Colin Tartt

Liverpudlian Colin qualified as a teacher at Alsager College prior to joining Vale, initially on trial, in 1972.  Described as a hardworking, industrious midfielder/full back, who was considered by some to be “as hard as nails” he soon became a regular for the Vale under Gordon Lee and subsequently for Roy Sproson.

Colin was sold for £15,000 to Chesterfield in 1976 where he played 225 games in 6 seasons before re-joining the Vale for the same £15,000 fee in 1981 to play for John McGrath.

He was given a free transfer by manager John Rudge in 1985 and went on to play non-league football before returning to teaching prior to retiring from the profession in 2013.
