About Us
Thank you for visiting the Port Vale Nostalgia website which features examples of nostalgia relating to Port Vale FC and the surrounding area of Burslem, Stoke on Trent.
This site was originally called “The Port Vale Memorabilia Project” and was made possible as a result of a grant from Awards For All, successfully bid by the Vale Park Community Initiative in 2011.
The site is not intended to merely cover the history of the football club but to explore events of nostalgic significance for the club and its surrounding area from the 1950’s onwards. It is hoped that the content of the site will engage, interest and educate people of all ages.
We would like to place on record our thanks to all those who have contributed to the content included on the site. Some of this content has formed the basis of literacy projects undertaken with local schools and future intentions include involving more schools in literacy and history projects as well as inviting groups of older people, such as the Port Vale Golden Valiants group, who have memories of the 1950’s and beyond.
The site also ties in with the displays of memorabilia on display at Port Vale FC in various areas of the Lorne Street stand. This can usually be viewed by prior arrangement by contacting:
Your feedback on the site is encouraged and always welcome. In addition, if you have any items, images or information that you would like to include or made reference to on the site, we would be very happy to hear from you.
Head of Education, Port Vale FC Academy.
